Ryuichi Sakamoto passed away at the age of 71. He was one of the pioneers of electronic music.


Composer of great talent and with an enviable musical technique. Sakamoto lent his skills to several artists, throughout his extensive artistic activity, in addition to being a great reference for new groups and composers that appeared later.


Ryuichi with the Yello Magic Orchestra (YMO) took the Japanese group into the midst of pioneers in electronic music, along with German artists in the same period. YMO's songs were highly successful outside of Japan.


In a solo career, Sakamoto composed OST for films such as The Last Emperor (1987), for which he won an Oscar, Tacones Lejanos (1992), Little Buddha (1993), among others. He also won a Golden Globe and a Grammy in the same period.
